We all know it was crap. That said, I wanna make two points:
-One, stop blaming the actors for the movie. They did the best with what they were given. It’s not Jackson’s fault that the writers decided to make Sokka more serious. If you’re gonna blame someone, blame Shymalan.
-Two, everyone got so upset about the race thing…these are fictional races. Zuko is not Chinese. China does not exist in the Avatar universe. If they had cast a firebender as Sokka, then yeah, I would be pissed.
I do get that the characters don’t totally look like they did in the show (IE Jackson is whiter than Sokka, Dev is darker than Zuko) but I don’t think how a character looks should be quite that important. Zuko has his scar and Yue has her white hair and Sokka has his ponytail, but all of those things are symbolic, they have to do with the characters and their backgrounds.
I dunno. I just think everyone is making this a race issue when it really isn’t. Feel free to disagree.
